On August 15, 2025, Wanhua Chemical’s 1.2 million tpy ethylene Phase II project in Yantai was fully commissioned with a total investment of 17.6 billion yuan. The complex includes a 1.2 million tpy ethylene cracker and downstream units such as LDPE and POE, with 100,000 tpy of POE capacity, breaking foreign monopolies and filling gaps in domestic high-end polyolefin elastomers. After commissioning, Wanhua’s total ethylene capacity in Yantai reached 2.1 million tpy, adding about 20 billion yuan in annual revenue and lifting the share of chemical new materials to 65%. The project accelerates Wanhua’s transition from the polyurethane field to the comprehensive chemical new materials field, supporting self-sufficiency in high-end polyolefins.
